It's a blustery day in the neighborhood

We may have an abundance of sunny days (average 350 a year) and an abundance of warm (hot!) days, but we also have our share of windy days here in Kingman.  Extremely windy days. Today is one of those days. It's sunny to be sure, average temp - the thermometer reads 53 currently, but damn windy. I've been chasing items across my yard all day - trash can, trash, lawn chairs, swimming pool.

Yep, I said swimming pool. I'm sitting in my front room, firing up the computer and drinking a cup of coffee when I hear this noise - a loud noise. I had no idea what it was, but it got the dog barking and growling. So, I roam through the house and look out the side door. I see a pool toy lying by the side of the house. I steeled myself and went outside to grab it an put it in the garage. Then I head back inside and go into the bedroom. There, I look out the sliding door to the backyard and see our pool, on its side, hanging from our patio roof. The wind had picked up the pool, tipped it on its side and blown it against the house. Luckily the pool was empty. It's a 12 X 12 above ground pool, and with the wind pressing against it, that sucker was heavy.

I knew my husband was close by on a delivery, so I gave him a quick call to see if he could swing by the house and help me dismantle the pool. So, there we are, fighting the wind, trying to get the thing apart. It caught on the corner of the patio roof and there's a nice tear in the vinyl. Not sure if it can be repaired, so the pool may be toast. That's ok though. We got it for free earlier this summer, so it's not a big deal if it can't be fixed.

I'm now sitting here watching tumbleweeds blow down the street. It's going to be fun driving to work later I think.

Until next time, B
