Licked to death

Why is it that the minute I get in bed, my dog feels like he has to give me a bath? Face, arms, hands...sometimes feet and legs. He'll hold my hands and arms down so that he can lick fingers to elbows. He doesn't lick me any other time, except for the occasional kiss, but bedtime is lick time.
